A suspect has been arrested in connection with a chemical attack on a woman in Milton.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 9th, around 1:25 p.m., when the victim was walking near Syer Drive and Maxted Crescent. The perpetrator, who was on foot, threw an unknown substance onto the victim, causing severe burns to her face and body. The suspect then took the victim's cell phone and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After conducting an investigation, authorities were able to identify the suspect as a family member of the victim. On Wednesday, March 15th, investigators arrested the suspect in Montreal. The 57-year-old woman from Quebec has been charged with aggravated assault, administering a noxious substance, and robbery. She is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
To protect the identity of the victim, the Halton Police have not released the suspect's name. However, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the victim, who is currently in stable condition at the hospital, although the injuries sustained are life-altering.
