The Milton community is coming together to support a young woman who was recently assaulted. Bradi McCoy, a beloved member of the community, suffered serious injuries in an acid attack near her home on March 9th. A Halton police alert described the suspect as a female wearing bell-bottom pants, a black jacket, a black balaclava, and yellow glasses. The seriousness of the attack has not been disclosed.
Despite this tragedy, the community has rallied around McCoy, raising over $45,000 of their $200,000 goal through a GoFundMe campaign. McCoy, a 22-year-old with a bright and bubbly personality, is well-known in Milton for her involvement in special needs programs and leadership roles in aquatics and recreation. She currently works as an EA with the Halton District School Board and hopes to become a teacher one day.
The fundraiser was started by a family friend, Erin Sproule, who is asking the community to come together to support McCoy's recovery and future medical needs. All funds raised will go directly to McCoy via her mother, Nancy Van Dorp, to help with her ongoing recovery and future expenses.
