Two Guelph men have been arrested following a break-in at a rural farm property in Milton.

As part of an ongoing investigation, officers from the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit visited a farm property near Mohawk Casino shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9. Upon arrival, they discovered a padlock had been cut from the farm gate to gain access.

Police found two men sitting in a vehicle parked near an open barn door. Inside the barn, officers observed a fire burning plastic and copper wire. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of stripped copper wire, along with bolt cutters and other tools.

The suspects, a 45-year-old man and a 39-year-old man from Guelph, have been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools, and possession of stolen property. Both were held for bail hearings on Friday.
