Come join Mayor Gord Krantz for the New Year's Eve bell ringing in Milton! All Milton residents are welcome to join the festive gathering at Victoria Park. The event starts at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, continuing a tradition that began in 1967.
The tradition of bell ringing started in 1967 when Jim Dills, then publisher of the Milton Canadian Champion, suggested ringing the bell from the former town hall on Main Street as a special way to celebrate Canada's centennial.
Although the event paused when municipal offices moved in 1985, it resumed in 1991 when the bell found its new home in Victoria Park at 43 Brown St. Don't miss this special New Year's tradition!
