Man in His 60s Tragically Dies After Trench Collapse on Milton Farm




A man in his 60s has tragically passed away following a trench collapse on a rural property in Milton on Friday afternoon, according to emergency officials.

Crews were called to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. after the homeowner was reported missing. Upon arrival, first responders began a search of the property and located the man buried under approximately four feet of soil.

Milton Fire Chief Peter Gatto confirmed that the trench collapse is believed to have caused the fatal incident. Mississauga Fire’s specialized trench rescue team was dispatched with five trucks to assist in the operation. Despite a determined one-hour rescue effort, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Halton Regional Police Service is now leading the investigation. No other injuries were reported. This tragic event highlights the serious risks associated with trench work and excavation, even on private properties.
