A Milton resident is facing serious charges after being caught speeding through Wellington County. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers observed the vehicle on Wednesday, November 6, shortly after 9:00 a.m. The driver was pulled over on Peel Street East in Mapleton.
Following the traffic stop, the 56-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with two violations: racing a motor vehicle and exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h. Due to the severity of the infractions, the driver’s vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, and their license has been suspended for 30 days.
The accused is expected to appear in a Guelph court to address these charges at a later date.
