Milton Introduces Licence Plate Recognition for Parking Enforcement.

The Town of Milton is rolling out Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to enhance parking enforcement and compliance. This cutting-edge system, mounted on by-law enforcement vehicles, will automatically scan and record licence plates of vehicles violating parking regulations.

How the LPR System Works

The LPR system captures images of parked or stopped vehicles in violation of Town by-laws. If a violation is detected, a parking ticket will be issued and mailed to the registered owner.

Each ticket includes:✅ Details of the parking violation✅ An image of the vehicle and licence plate✅ Payment and dispute options

🔹 Important Notice: In addition to the fine, a $10 standard mail service fee applies, as approved in Staff Report CORS-011-24 and User Fee By-law 62-2024.

LPR Enforcement Focus Areas

This new system will prioritize:🚸 School and community safety zones🌙 Overnight, on-street parking compliance

To protect privacy, personal details, including people and unrelated vehicles, will be blurred where possible. The collected data will be used exclusively by the Town of Milton for enforcement purposes.

How to Pay or Dispute a Parking Ticket

If you receive a parking ticket in the mail from the Town of Milton, you have the following options:

💳 Payment Options:Online: Pay via the Town of Milton’s website✔ In Person: Visit Town Hall during business hours

Disputing a Ticket:To dispute a parking ticket or penalty notice, submit a review request within 30 days of the ticket issuance date. Failure to respond by the due date will result in waived review rights and an administrative fee.

For more details, visit the Town of Milton website.
