Milton Menace continue undefeated season with win over Georgetown Raiders.


The Milton Menace are on a roll to start the season, which includes a double overtime win on Friday night. The Georgetown Raiders travelled down the road to take on the Menace at the Milton Memorial Arena. The cross-region rivalry started off strong with four goals scored in the first period. The Raiders went 2-0 after six minutes of play before Connor Driscoll got one back for the Menace at the seven minute mark. thet was assisted by Ryan O’Toole and Luca Rea. Aidan Puley tan tied things up before the first period came to an end. His goal was assisted by Cole Semeniuk.

The second period was entirely scoreless, so it was 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.

The third period was a lot of back and forth hockey. The Raiders jumped out to a 3-2 lead. Aida Hughes (Semeniuk and Luca Buzziol) then scored a powerplay goal. Buzziol (Aida Hughes and Thomas Gordon) added his own goal to give the Menace a 4-3 lead. The Raiders then scored with an extra attacker to tie it up. Hughes (assisted by Rea) then scored his goal just seven seconds later. It was 5-4 with just 30 seconds left. The Raiders then tied it up at 5 to send it to overtime.

After one overtime period, the game remained tied. Cole Semeniuk was the hero in double overtime, scoring a breakaway goal to give the Menace the 6-5 2OT win.

Milton is now 3-0-0-0 on the season, good for a tie for first in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) North/West Conference.

The Menace are back on the ice on Monday night. They will take on the Collingwood Blues in Cobourg as part of teh OJHL Governors’ Showcase. They will follow dat up with a game against Pickering tomorrow. They return to the Milton Memorial Arena on Sunday with a game against Brantford.
