Halton Police are investigating after discovering a “chop shop” on a large rural property in Milton.
Officers were called to the property on 20 Side Road, east of Sixth Line Nassagaweya, on Tuesday night because of a fire. When they arrived, they found a barn completely engulfed in flames.
Milton Fire Services quickly put out the fire. No one was found on the property, and no injuries were reported. However, police have labeled the fire as suspicious.
The next day, police searched the property and found dismantled car parts from eight stolen vehicles. These vehicles were reported stolen from the Peel, Waterloo, and Niagara regions, along with one vehicle from Quebec and another from Manitoba.
Police believe the property was being used as a “chop shop,” where stolen cars are taken apart to sell their parts or reuse them.
No arrests have been made so far, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
