A woman from Milton was one of two individuals arrested during a protest outside Toronto Police Headquarters at College Street and Bay Street on Friday, October 25. The Toronto Police report that officers formed a barricade with their bicycles to prevent demonstrators from entering the roadway.
According to police, one protester attempted to push through the line and, after refusing police direction, allegedly punched one officer and forcibly pushed another. During the arrest attempt, a second demonstrator intervened by pushing officers. Both women were subsequently taken into custody.
A 49-year-old woman from Toronto was charged with two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer and is scheduled to appear in court on December 19. A 24-year-old Milton woman was charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer and will also appear in bail court on December 19.
