The Halton Agricultural Society has officially announced that there will be no Canada Day festivities or fireworks at the Milton Fairgrounds in 2025.
In a public statement, the Society expressed its disappointment, citing several key reasons behind the tough decision: limited operational capacity, a noticeable decline in volunteer support, rising event costs, and lower gate donations in recent years.
While the news is disheartening, it’s not unprecedented—Milton faced similar cancellations back in 2020 during the pandemic. The Society remains hopeful and says it may revisit the possibility of bringing the event back in 2026, provided there’s increased community involvement and support.
On a brighter note, preparations are already in motion for the much-anticipated 170th Milton Fall Fair, which will take place from September 26 to 29, 2025, at the Milton Fairgrounds (136 Robert Street).
