If you’ve got frost-sensitive fruit trees and vegetable plants still growing produce, you may want to cover them up.
Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for parts of southern and southwestern Ontario on Wednesday, Oct. 9, warning of patchy frost as temperatures drop to near the freezing mark overnight.
The advisory includes Halton Hills, Milton, Caledon and Hamilton, as well as areas further west and south, including Norfolk, Haldimand, eastern Middlesex County, eastern Elgin County, Oxford and Brant.
“Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas. Take preventive measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees,” the advisory said.
Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season.
