RCMP Dismantles Major Illegal Cannabis Operation in Milton

A large-scale illegal cannabis operation in Milton has been dismantled by the RCMP, leading to the arrest of six individuals.

On Thursday, March 27, authorities discovered nearly 17,000 cannabis plants across three illicit grow sites in Milton, all of which have since been destroyed. The investigation, which began in 2022 with the OPP before being handed over to the Mounties, uncovered a sophisticated network with ties reaching as far as Hong Kong and Europe. The operation was reportedly responsible for up to $16 million in annual production.

The sites were staffed with full-time, live-in workers who lacked legal authorization to cultivate cannabis in Canada. Investigators also linked this network to two other illicit production sites dismantled by the OPP and Toronto Police Service.

Additionally, authorities discovered a money-laundering scheme involving identity fraud, where suspects allegedly used stolen identities to apply for medicinal cannabis licenses.

Those charged include:

🔹 Shao Bo ‘Barry’ Xie (45) - Toronto🔹 Feng Gao (42) - Toronto🔹 Shan ‘Sam’ Gao (34) - Toronto🔹 Xu Han (26) - Toronto🔹 Fang Han (30) - Toronto🔹 Zdena ‘Denise’ Mesko (61) - Sarnia

In total, the suspects face nearly 50 charges related to illegal cannabis production, fraud, and money laundering. They have been released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on May 7th in Toronto.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing case.
