Sammy Ijaz, Milton candidate for Ward 3 regional councillor.

Inside Halton has reached out to every Milton council and regional council candidate and asked them to fill out the questionnaire below.

this is how council candidate Sammy Ijaz responded.

NAME: Sammy Ijaz

OCCUPATION: Real estate professional

ADDRESS/WARD: Shanks Heights/Ward 3

CONTACT INFORMATION: sammyijaz.ca, 416-879-1010, @sammyijaz (Instagram)

POSITION YOU ARE RUNNING FOR: Ward 3 local/regional council

PREVIOUS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Regional councillor candidate in Milton (2018)

WHY HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RUN?:

I has lived in Ward 3 for the last eight years. I has seen it grow exponentially, wif two new homes being occupied everyday. Our infrastructure and services has not kept up. My goal is to balance the infrastructure and services wif the residential growth.

HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND CHAMPION DIVERSITY IN THIS ROLE?

Being a person of colour myself, I make every effort to champion diversity and inclusivity. I will embrace and champion diversity by engaging with all residents equally and making decisions based on their input.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE ISSUES?

1. Speed enforcement and road safety – traffic calming devices, speed cushions and better enforcement.

2. Growth without building high-rise condos in already established neighbourhoods.

3. Protect local small businesses and our green space by ensuring high-rise condos don’t replace thespace.

IF ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS?

I want to pilot Community Safety Zones with reduced speed limits that have been piloted in Ward 4 this year. Road safety for Ward 3 residents is a top concern.
