A routine Facebook Marketplace transaction took a frightening turn when a seller was threatened with a knife during a meetup at a Milton home.
According to Const. Ryan Anderson, Halton Police’s communications officer, the incident unfolded on Monday (Nov. 25) at approximately 6:50 p.m. The seller had arranged to meet two prospective buyers at their residence on Laurier Avenue to sell a high-end jacket.
As the exchange began, one of the suspects reportedly tried on the jacket. Moments later, the suspect brandished a folding knife, threatening the seller and cautioning them against pursuing the pair. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot, taking the jacket with them.
The first suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6'2" tall, with a slim build, and estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old. The second suspect is also described as a Black male, standing around 5'7", of similar age, and dressed in dark clothing.
Halton police are actively investigating the incident and urge anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward. Residents are reminded to exercise caution during online marketplace transactions, particularly when meeting strangers for high-value exchanges.
