This long weekend is a great time to show gratitude and help others.
Milton’s Salvation Army Khi Community is asking residents to donate what they can to support their neighbors.
According to Ruth Hickman, Director of Community and Family Services, they expect more people will need help from the local food bank.
If you’d like to help, you can organize a food and fund drive with your business, friends, or neighborhood. Hickman suggests letting your co-workers, neighbors, or friends know that you’ll be collecting non-perishable food for the food bank as a good starting point.
There’s a big need for new, unopened canned and boxed food that hasn’t expired. You can contact The Salvation Army Khi Community to arrange a drop-off time.
If you want to do more, you can also make a one-time financial donation or set up monthly online donations. You can visit the food bank at 820 Nipissing Road in Milton to donate by cash, cheque, or card. Donations over $20 can receive a charitable receipt if requested.
