People visiting a plaza near McDonald’s on Santa Maria Boulevard in Milton got an unexpected surprise on Sunday morning (Dec. 1) around 10:30 a.m.
Halton police responded to a call about a possible impaired driver and found two males reclining or sleeping in a vehicle. When officers tried to talk to them, they jumped out of the car and ran.
The suspects were caught a short distance away. After searching the car, police found stolen IDs, debit cards, break-in tools, and a key reprogramming device commonly used in car thefts.

Possessing stolen ID
Having stolen property under $5,000
Possessing break-in tools
Possessing a device for car theft
Breaking bail conditions
Possessing cannabis as a minor
Driving with cannabis easily accessible
Driving without a license
A 28-year-old man from Peterborough has been charged with:
Possessing break-in tools
Possessing a device for theft
The charges have yet to be proven in court.
