On April 8th in Milton, Halton Police began investigating a case where a woman was allegedly robbed of her two Dachshunds. The woman had arranged to meet two individuals who expressed interest in purchasing her dogs through Kijiji in the area of Sauve Street and Derry Road at around 7:50 p.m.
Upon arrival, the suspects took the dogs from the owner and fled on foot. The woman followed them in her vehicle but stopped after the male suspect approached her with a brick, hitting her car with his hands before leaving with the dogs and his accomplice.
Halton Police are currently working to identify and locate the suspects, with the man being described as approximately six-foot with a thin build and the woman as five-foot-six with a medium to heavy build. In the meantime, the Halton Police urge the public to take safety precautions when making sales or purchases arranged online, including completing transactions during daytime hours, bringing a friend or family member along, and inspecting goods before making any payment.
Additionally, to reduce the potential of falling victim to fraud, it is recommended to never complete a buy and sell transaction by mail, limit the amount of personal information provided, and to be cautious if a deal seems too good to be true. Those who are unable to attend the Buy & Sell Exchange Zone at the Oakville police station are encouraged to contact Halton Police or Crime Stoppers with any information regarding the incident.
