Zee Hamid Re-Elected as Milton’s MPP in Strong PC Win

10:12 PM – With almost all votes counted, PC candidate Zee Hamid has won re-election as Milton’s MPP. He received 47.47% of the vote (20,045 votes), while Liberal candidate Kristina Tesser Derksen got 43.38% (17,471 votes).

10:00 PM – As the last votes come in, Hamid has successfully kept Milton under PC leadership. He secured 47.50% of the vote (19,916 votes), defeating Tesser Derksen by more than 2,500 votes.

Voter Turnout – 41.73% of Milton’s eligible voters cast their ballots this time, a big increase from the 27.72% turnout in last year’s byelection.

9:52 PM – Mayor Gord Krantz was among those celebrating Hamid’s win at the Royal Canadian Legion. He said he looks forward to working with Hamid on major town projects, including all-day, two-way GO Transit service with Metrolinx.

9:35 PM – With most polls reporting, Milton has chosen to stay with the PCs. Hamid has a 2,566-vote lead over Tesser Derksen. NDP candidate Katherine Cirlincione is in third place with 2,376 votes.

9:25 PM – Hamid’s lead continues to grow. With 80% of votes counted, he leads 18,976 to 16,512 over Tesser Derksen.

9:19 PM – Results are similar to last year’s byelection. Hamid holds a 1,728-vote lead with 68% of votes counted.

9:15 PM – Early results showed Hamid leading by 751 votes, with NDP’s Cirlincione and Green Party’s Susan Doyle trailing.
